A Note From the Editorial Director
In a parallel life, I
work for a leading international e-business integrator,
helping companies implement Data Governance, Knowledge Management,
and Information Access/Organization/Retrieval strategies.
So of course when Sarbanes-Oxley became an issue, I began collecting and analyzing
information for clients.
Much of that early information and guidance about the impact of
Sarbanes-Oxley came from vendors -
application providers, system integrators and consultancies,
and those who provide pre-audit and audit services.
Where is the vendor-neutral information? I wondered.
Over the past months, the number of vendors
offering SOX solutions has grown rapidly, and the number of sites
that mention Sarbanes-Oxley has exploded:
700 hits in late April. 20,000 in early July. 94,600 by August.
How will those who need to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley
ever filter out the information they need? I wondered.
How can I help them distinguish unbiased information
from sales pitches disguised as guidance?
For that matter, fellow consultants and clients asked,
How could anyone keep up with Sarbanes-Oxley
developments if vendor sites only present the information
that supports their sales pitches?
And so, SOX-online, the Vendor-Neutral Sarbanes-Oxley Site was born.
Of course, compliance doesn't have to be all work
and no fun at all. Along the way, we've
discovered some facts, figures, and turns of speech
that made us laugh. (I know - sometimes you gotta laugh
just to keep from crying...) So we thought we'd
share those with you, too.
We hope this site is helpful to you.
Let us know, OK?
Gwen Thomas
Editorial Director
Our Vendor-Neutral Pledge
We will do our best to distinguish impartial Sarbanes-Oxley content
from that produced by parties with a vested interest
in readers' spending decisions.
Both will be made available to readers,
but not mixed together in the same listings.
Vendor-produced whitepapers, advice, analysis, and advertising
will be clearly identified as such.
Our Vendor Showcase area will give tool-makers, consultants, auditors,
and other vendors an equal playing ground
upon which to make their pitches.
